本種は日本から多数のメスを基に記載され、原色日本アザミウマ図鑑の原稿執筆時では関東地方でのみ知られており、オスは未知であったが、 Li et al. (2019)により中国からオスが記載された。 本種は関東地方では５～６月頃に、アオキやタブノキに多数の個体が発生し、おそらくこれらの植物が寄主植物と思われる。個体数が非常に多い時期には、近隣の寄主植物以外の植物にも多くの個体が観察できる。Li et al. (2019)によると本種のオスは第９背板後縁に1対の角状突起を備え、腹板は多数の小さな腺域を持つ。中国のタケから記載されたT. guizhouensis Li et al.は本種に似るが、前胸背板の前縁中央部は褐色であること、腹部第３-6背板は中央部のみが褐色であることで識別できる。

This species was described from Japan based on numerous females. Thereafter, Li et al. (2019) recorded it and described male for the first time from China. In the Kanto-region of Honshu, many individuals of this species occur on the leaves of Aucuba japonica and Machilus thunbergii in May to Jun. Probably this species feeds on these plants but it is also found on many unrelated plants species when it outbreaks. According to Li et al. (2019), male has the abdominal tergite IX with a paired drepanae and the sternites with small pore plates scattered. T. guizhouensis Liet al., described from bamboo in China, is similar to this species but it can be distinguished by the pronotum with anterior margin dark brown medially and the abdominal tergites III-VI bicolored, with dark brown medially but yellow marginally.
